In the Beginning
The Heriolastic Lore states that the Ancient Race once lived with the Angels in a complete expansive floating land far above the surface, an Uber-Island known as He'algea that would blot out the sun for thousands of miles. A terrible tragedy befell them, and their extinction accompanied the destruction of He'algea. A cataclysmic sky-quake doomed much of the lower lands as entire continents and mountains fell from the skies.
Ancient Race ruins and bones are found throughout Raeluna - no physical evidence of any Angels exists, for all that the Islands of Raeluna bear their mythical names. However, humanity was either born after this apocalypse, or survived it, and grew to civilization separately on five Islands of Raeluna, and the names of the Angels and some version of this creation myth are remarkably similar in all five of their disparate languages.
Those five Cradle Islands - Uldrath, Mehujael, Barakeel, Anvard, and Zelix - have their own histories and cultures, but the history of connected humanity began 500 years ago, when the first Gates were opened...
